Can I create multiple databases?
Yes, you may create as many databases as you want, each with its own master password. You may wish to create a database for personal passwords or work passwords, or for different people. EG: "Mark's Passwords", "Jan's Passwords"
Is there a limit to the number of passwords and groups I can enter?
No. You may enter an unlimited number of groups and passwords in each database that is created. However the unregistered evaluation version limits the number of groups to 5, and the number of passwords to 3 per group. The registered version lifts this restriction.
Are the password databases searchable?
Yes. Each database can be searched by keyword, bringing up a result list of matching accounts. You can search all fields or specific fields. Clicking on an account will take you that account in the database.
What kind of reports can I generate?
You may select any combination of accounts to print out on a report. You may also select any combination of fields to display on the report. Each report is customizable to your needs and displays as a standard HTML file, providing an easy option for file portability.
Can I Import/Export Passwords?
Yes. You may import directly from PA databases as well as text files. You may export to XML,HTML, or Excel format. Fine-grain control over which accounts and fields are available for import/export.
Is the database secure?
Yes. Password Administrator uses AES 256-bit Encryption selected by the the National Institute for Standards and Technology. A FAQ on AES encryption can be found here.
Is Password Administrator Multi-User? Can Password Administrator be used over a network?
Password Administrator is NOT multi-user. It was designed for single machine use, however it *may* work over your network (but not multi-user) by placing the *.padb (3x) or *.pdb (2x) file on a network file server and then have each workstation access it individually. When used in this fashion, keep in mind that only one user at a time can access the database, PA is NOT multi-user. Remember to keep frequent backups when used in a network environment. In addition, each workstation must have the exact same version of PA if you are going to access the database over a network.
What about backups?
Password Administrator employs an incremental backup strategy. Each backup file is identified by date. By default, PA keeps a backup of the database for the past 14 days. (The number of days can be user-defined). Using this strategy, you can revert to a previous database state.
